CELEBRATING JIM HENSON’S BIRTHDAY WITH SAM AND FRIENDS
On September 24th, Jim Henson’s birthday, join us at The Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY to celebrate the publication of Sam and Friends: The Story of Jim Henson’s First Television Show written by Craig Shemin. Published by BearManor Media, with a foreword by Frank Oz, the book explores Jim and Jane Henson’s early Washington, D.C. work. The event begins at 1pm as the author introduces a screening of surviving Sam and Friends footage and Wilkins Coffee commercials, followed by a discussion of the book with MoMI’s Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs, Barbara Miller and the presentation of a newly uncovered Sam and Friends episode, not seen by the public for more than 60 years. The screening and discussion will be followed by a signing (books will be available at a discount in the Museum Shop). All who attend will receive a free gift!
