FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS … THE WORLD??

Human monsters, cripples and wretches, unite! Ygor, every Monster Kid’s favorite blacksmith–body snatcher, adds Paramilitary Strategist to his bulging résumé when he unveils his plan to organize his country’s outcasts into a fighting force. Their objective: enslave strong people and make them work for the weak. And at the head of Ygor’s hideous hordes: the Frankenstein Monster!

In 1941, as Universal prepared to make The Ghost of Frankenstein, they “took a pass” on screenwriter Eric Taylor’s bonkers plotline, described above. But fortunately for 21st-century Monster Kids, a copy of his script still exists; and now it rises from the ashes to become the centerpiece of the newest “Scripts from the Crypt” volume. Extras include a deluxe new Ghost of Frankenstein production history by Gregory W. Mank, Fun Facts, bonus essays and a trove of vintage photos.

The Theatre/Cinema Shelf Review:  "Nicely illustrated throughout with B/W historical photos and co-authored by Tom Weaver and Gregory W. Mank, this large format (8.25 x 0.88 x 11 inches, 2.55 pounds) hardcover edition of "The Ghost of Frankenstein: Scripts from the Crypt, Volume 16" from BearManor Press is a unique and highly prized addition to personal, professional, and college/university library Cinematic History collections and a 'must' for the legions of Frankenstein fans wanting a peek behind the curtain with respect to the cinematic fate of The Ghost of Frankenstein."

"CLASSIC IMAGES" BOOK REVIEW:
After three “Scripts from the Crypt” books on Universal’s Kharis the Mummy movies (The Mummy’s Hand, The Mummy’s Tomb, The Mummy’s Ghost), the series takes on another of the studio’s franchise monsters: 1942’s The Ghost of Frankenstein (BearManor Media, $40, softcover; $50, hardcover) is the subject of “Scripts” #16 and the volume is packed with Monster Kid goodness: Gregory Mank’s production history, Tom Weaver’s “Fun Facts,” additional chapters by Bill Cooke, Roger Hurlburt and Frank Dello Stritto, pressbook, appendices and an early script quite unlike the eventual movie (Old Ygor hatches a plan to take over the entire country and, who knows?, maybe tomorrow the world!). When it comes to the horror and sci-fi oldies, no one does deep dives like the “Scripts from the Crypt” gang, and if you’re a fan of Ghost of Frankenstein, the volume is essential.
